Terms and Conditions

TRP Surveys is a market research panel run by TRP Research Ltd in order to help the media industry understand the opinion and viewing habits of the public.  We predominately run surveys relating to the media, however we may also provide research for other industries, so our surveys will be about a broad range of topics.  We also offer the option to opt in to other surveys which are provided by sample buyers through specific marketplaces in Syno Panel to give you more survey opportunities.

Please read the following Terms and Conditions carefully.

The Terms and Conditions should be read with the Privacy Notice which gives details on how we collect, store, use, share and protect your personal data and the Cookie Notice.  By joining TRP Surveys you agree to these Terms and Conditions and confirm that you have read, understood and agree to the Privacy Notice and Cookie NoticeIf you do not agree to these Terms and Conditions and the Privacy and Cookie Notices, do not sign up for TRP Surveys.

We reserve the right to amend these Terms and Conditions and/or the Privacy and Cookie Notices at any time.  If we do this we will send you an email to let you know.  If you do not agree to any of the changes that we make you must unsubscribe from TRP Surveys (please see the section titled “Leaving TRP Surveys”).  Otherwise we will assume that you have accepted and agree to the changes made.

By signing up for TRP Surveys you agree to receive survey invites by email when a survey that you are eligible for becomes available.  TRP Surveys does not guarantee that you will receive a certain amount of surveys in a set time frame or when you will receive your first survey.  There is no upper limit on the number of surveys that you might receive.  You may take part in as many or as few surveys as you want to.

1. Signing up for TRP Surveys

There is no charge for taking part in TRP Surveys.  Any personal data that you provide will only be used as described in our Privacy and Cookie Notices and in accordance with these Terms and Conditions.

To be accepted as a member of TRP Surveys you must:

  • Have only one account (multiple sign ups will not be accepted).
  • Sign up as yourself and not pretend to be any other person.
  • Be an individual – not a corporation or any other type of entity.
  • Complete the sign up form honestly and accurately ensuring that all information requested is complete.
  • Provide a valid email address so you can receive our surveys. This needs to be unique to you and cannot be shared with another member of TRP Surveys.
  • Be living in the UK and provide a residential UK address.
  • Be over the age of 16.
  • NOT work in market research or the media industry.
  • NOT have a partner / immediate family member who works for TRP Research Ltd.

It is important that you check your details carefully when signing up for TRP Surveys.  Don’t forget to add info@trpsurveys.com to your address book to ensure that you don’t miss out on any surveys.  We cannot be held responsible if you do not receive our surveys.

We monitor all member sign ups and survey records as part of our quality checks.  If we find out / suspect that you have signed up for TRP Surveys multiple times we reserve the right to immediately remove any or all of the accounts without notice and to refuse any future sign ups from you.  If you are removed you will lose any credits you have left in your account and you will no longer be sent surveys, receive credits or get any rewards that are due.

2. Third-party surveys provided by sample buyers

The third-party surveys are extra surveys that you can opt in to receive and take part in.  They are provided through marketplaces such as PureSpectrum and Cint by sample buyers who want to send out a survey and could be about any topic.  You need to be accepted as a member of TRP Surveys and have opted into the third-party surveys to be able to take part in these surveys.  Once you have opted in, you will see any third-party surveys that are available.  You can opt out of the third-party surveys at any time and still receive the surveys produced by TRP Surveys.

a) Accessing the third-party surveys
The third-party surveys will be accessible to you through Syno Panel who we are using as our Panel Management software and you will need to set up an account to be able to access them.  You will automatically be sent a link to set up your account if you are accepted onto TRP Surveys and have opted in to the third-party surveys.

You will also be required to create a password so you can access your account, update your details, complete the third-party surveys and redeem your rewards.  You are responsible for keeping your password confidential and secure and for any activity that occurs under your account.  You must not allow anyone else to use your account for any reason and must let us know immediately if you think that someone has gained unauthorised access to your account.

When you first log in to your account, you will be asked to read through some consent statements and permissions to confirm which statements you agree to.  Please see Syno Panel’s Privacy Notice https://www.synoint.com/privacy-policy/ for more details and an explanation of the consent statements.

Once your account has been set up the third-party surveys you are likely to be eligible for will automatically appear when you log into your account.  Once you have got access to your account you should fill in the profiling questions, to ensure that you see the third-party surveys most relevant to you.  The information collected from the profiling questions is used alongside the demographic information collected in the TRP Surveys sign up form to determine which third-party surveys are shown to you.

If you have problems accessing your account please email info@trpsurveys.com and we will happy to assist you.  You must satisfy any security checks before we are able to help you gain access to your account and reset your password.

b) How the third-party surveys work

  • The surveys will be available for you to complete by logging into your account.
  • Each survey that is available to you will show the number of credits that it is worth and the estimated time of completion so you can decide which surveys (if any) you want to complete. You can complete as many or as few surveys as you want.
  • New surveys will be available daily.
  • You will only see the surveys that are relevant to you based on your demographic information and the answers you have provided to the profiling questions in your account. This means that the surveys you see may be different to the surveys that other people see.
  • The surveys provided cover a variety of topics and are not necessarily media related.
  • Once you have successfully completed a survey the credits will be automatically added to your Syno Panel account (note that your credits may take up to 30 minutes to appear in your account). You can check your account balance at any time by logging into your account.
  • Once you have collected enough credits you can choose how you’d like to be rewarded. Rewards include Amazon vouchers, Tesco vouchers and Asda vouchers alongside other vouchers as well as donations to selected charities.

c) Receiving credits and redeeming rewards for the third-party surveys
Each survey will clearly state the number of credits that it is worth, and you will receive credits for every survey you complete.  Credits will be automatically added to your Syno Panel account once a survey has been successfully completed.  Credits are not transferable between accounts, have no cash value and can only be used to pay out your chosen reward.

You will be rewarded for taking part in the surveys with shopping vouchers or charity donations.  To see the current list of rewards that are available for you to choose from please log in to your account and go to the “Rewards to claim” tab. Rewards are subject to change at any time.  The minimum reward that can be redeemed is £5 (equivalent to 20 credits).  Your credits will be automatically adjusted once you redeem a reward.  Your reward will be sent out automatically by email when you redeem it.  Please make sure you check your junk folder if you have not received your reward.

Only credits received from the third-party surveys will be added to this account, and rewards must be redeemed through here.  Once you have been sent your reward it cannot be returned or exchanged.  Rewards redeemed for completing the third-party surveys will be managed by Syno Panel.  You can continue to earn credits for completing the third-party surveys and redeem rewards as long as you remain a member of TRP Surveys.

It is important to make sure that you regularly redeem your rewards once you have enough credits in your account for your chosen reward.  If we need to close TRP Surveys for any reason, any unclaimed credits will be lost, and you will no longer be able to access your account or redeem rewards.  If this happens, we will give you one month’s notice before TRP Surveys closes to enable you to redeem any outstanding rewards, before you lose access to your account.

d) Important information about the third-party surveys
As the surveys are not created by us and we have no control over the questions, content or quotas, we are not able to help with any problems or issues relating to the survey itself.

If you unsubscribe from TRP Surveys or are removed for any reason, you will automatically be unsubscribed from the third-party surveys at the same time and will no longer receive any surveys to complete.

The Terms and Conditions specified below relating to TRP Surveys also apply to the third-party surveys.  In particular, please pay attention to sections 9 (Filling in surveys) and 10 (Confidentiality) and make sure you comply when completing your surveys.  If we have reasonable grounds to suspect that the data you provide is untrue, inaccurate or that you are not filling in the third-party surveys properly we will remove your access to these surveys and may end your membership with TRP Surveys without notice.  Please also see the Terms and Conditions provided by Syno for participants completing surveys which can be found by visiting  https://www.synoint.com/terms-and-conditions-for-panellists/.

e) Opting out from the third-party surveys
You can opt out from receiving the third-party surveys at any time by emailing info@trpsurveys.com and putting “Third-party surveys unsubscribe” in the email.  You can also opt out of these surveys by logging into your Syno Panel account, going to “Edit account” and then clicking on “Opt out from third-party surveys”.  Requests to opt out from the third-party surveys will be completed within 7 days and once actioned you will no longer be able to complete any third-party surveys or access your account.

3. PureSpectrum Surveys

You need to be accepted as a member of TRP Surveys and have opted in to the PureSpectrum surveys in order to be able to take part in these extra surveys.  You will be sent an email from TRP Surveys on a daily basis containing 5 unique links which can be used to access surveys from PureSpectrum on their marketplace.  These links will be unique to you, contain your basic demographic information and must not be shared with anyone else or changed.

Each link will allow you to complete 1 survey on PureSpectrum’s marketplace, meaning that you will be able to complete up to 5 extra surveys a day, in addition to the surveys from TRP Surveys.  It’s your choice if you want to take the PureSpectrum surveys.

PureSpectrum will decide which surveys you see / are able to take part in based on the broad demographic information provided in your survey link.  This means that the surveys you see may be different to the surveys that other people see.

As with TRP Surveys, you will receive credits towards your chosen reward for every PureSpectrum survey you complete.  Each survey you complete through the PureSpectrum links will be worth half a credit, which will be automatically added to your account within a week of the survey being successfully completed.  As always, credits are not transferable between accounts, have no cash value and can only be used to pay out your chosen reward.  Please see section 5 “Rewards” for more information on how your reward is paid out.

As these surveys are provided by an outside company and we have no control over the questions, content or quotas, we are not able to help with any problems or issues relating to the survey itself.

If you unsubscribe from TRP Surveys or are removed for any reason, you will automatically be unsubscribed from the PureSpectrum surveys at the same time and will no longer receive any surveys to complete.

The Terms and Conditions specified below relating to TRP Surveys also apply to PureSpectrum.  In particular, please pay attention to sections 9 (Filling in surveys) and 10 (Confidentiality) and make sure you comply when completing your surveys.  If we have reasonable grounds to suspect that the data you provide is untrue, inaccurate or that you are not filling in the PureSpectrum surveys properly we will stop sending you these extra surveys and may end your membership with TRP Surveys without notice.

You can opt out from receiving the Purespectrum surveys at any time by emailing info@trpsurveys.com and putting “PureSpectrum unsubscribe” in the heading.

4. Updating personal data

You are responsible for making sure that your personal data including your contact details are accurate and up to date.  Your contact details will be used to send you surveys, rewards and to communicate with you about TRP Surveys.  We may end your membership with TRP Surveys without notice if you fail to keep your personal data accurate and up to date.  If this happens you will lose any credits you have left in your account and you will no longer be sent surveys, receive credits or get any rewards that are due.

We cannot be held responsible for lost vouchers that were sent to an old address because your address was not updated.  Please email info@trpsurveys.com to let us know about any changes to your contact details.

5. Receiving credits and rewards for surveys produced by TRP Surveys

This section only applies to surveys that are produced by TRP Surveys and sent to you by email. Please see section 2 “Third-party surveys provided by sample buyers” to find out how the credits and rewards work for completing the third-party surveys.

You will receive credits towards your chosen reward for every survey you complete.  Each credit that you earn will be automatically added to your account.  Credits are not transferable between accounts, have no cash value and can only be used to pay out your chosen reward.  Once you have been sent your reward it cannot be returned or exchanged.  You will be rewarded for taking part in our surveys with shopping vouchers, charity donations or you can raise money for a community group.

All rewards will be managed by TRP Research.  You should email info@trpsurveys.com to request a change of reward.  We will continue to send you rewards as long as you remain a member of TRP Surveys.  We will let you know how many credits each survey is worth when we send the survey out and in the survey itself.  Our surveys vary in length and may not include the same questions each time.

  • If your reward choice is a shopping voucher you will be notified by email and sent a £5 voucher on the Tuesday after you have reached 20 credits. We will let you know how many credits you have each week in Wednesday’s email.
  • If your reward choice is a charity donation we will automatically pay £5 to your chosen charity and notify you by email on the Tuesday after you have reached 20 credits. We will let you know how many credits you have each week in Wednesday’s email.
  • If your reward choice is a community group we will automatically pay £50 into the group’s nominated bank account once the group has reached 200 credits, unless an alternative agreement has been made with your group. This payment will usually occur within a couple of weeks after the group has reached the payment threshold, where we have the group’s bank account details.  This gives us time to process any credits that are due and pay into the group’s account.  We will send you and other members of the group an email once the group has been paid.

6. Community groups

In order to raise money for a community group through taking our surveys you will need to name the group when prompted in the sign up form.  A community group could include sports teams, choirs, societies, community volunteer groups etc.  We reserve the right to decline specific groups entry onto TRP Surveys for any reason including dishonesty and groups that do not exist.  If your group has not been accepted for any reason we will let you know.

Each individual community group needs to have between 3 and 20 members to qualify for the scheme.  If you chose a community group when you signed up but haven’t been able to get the 3 members needed to qualify, we may contact you to see if a recruiter can visit to encourage more sign ups or ask you to change to a different reward.  If your group reaches 20 members, the maximum group size allowed, we reserve the right to refuse any further sign ups to your group without notice.

Once your group has collected enough credits we will ask for the group’s bank account details so we can pay £50 into the account.  If your group has not been paid before we will verify your group before we agree to set up any payments.  See section 5 for more details on paying out rewards.

7. Referring friends

Current members can refer their friends to TRP Surveys by completing the refer a friend form when we are looking for more members.  You must be a current member of TRP Surveys to be able to refer friends and receive rewards.  In addition the friend must meet any extra criteria stated in the refer a friend emails/surveys to qualify for the scheme and receive the reward.

You must provide your friend’s name and email address so that we can send them an invite – make sure you check their details carefully.  We will not send out an invite to your friend if we are missing any details in the refer a friend form.

Where needed we will also ask for your name and email address as part of the refer a friend survey so that we can link the referral back to you and reward you with the extra referral credits/reward.  If the details you provide do not match our records we will not be able to send your friend an invite.

Your name will also be included in the email inviting your friend to join TRP Surveys.  We may limit the number of friends you can refer at one time and we will only send each friend a maximum of two invites.  It is their choice whether or not they want to sign up for TRP Surveys.

In order to receive the refer a friend credits/reward your friend needs to sign up for TRP Surveys (see section 1) and you and your friend need to meet the criteria set out in the specific refer a friend email/survey.  The criteria may not always be the same so please make sure you read the details carefully to make sure you know what you need to do in order to get the refer a friend credits/reward.  Rewards will be given once the details have been checked and no later than one month after the criteria have been met as long as you are both still members of TRP Surveys.  In addition, your friend must:

  • Have never been a member of TRP Surveys in the past.
  • Use the referral link included in the email to sign up for TRP Surveys.

You should only refer your friends if they are happy for you to give us their name and email address so we can send them an invite to join TRP Surveys.  If we receive a complaint from your friend as a result of the email we have sent inviting them to join TRP Surveys we may end your membership with TRP Surveys (see section 17).

8. Prize draws

We may run free prize draws from time to time.  These prize draws will be subject to additional Terms and Conditions that will be put up on the TRP Surveys website when the prize draw starts.  Third-party surveys available through your Syno Panel account / PureSpectrum surveys do not qualify for any prize draw entries.

9. Filling in surveys

We use technology to send your surveys and open / close them.  We may set quotas in our surveys to make sure that they meet the criteria of the project.  Once these quotas are met you will not be able to take part in the survey.

When filling in our surveys (and any third-party survey) make sure that you are not rushed and have time to complete the surveys properly.  You are responsible for filling in your surveys honestly and accurately.  If we have reasonable grounds to suspect that the data you provide is untrue, inaccurate or that you are not filling in our surveys properly we may end your membership with TRP Surveys without notice.  If this happens you will lose any credits you have left in your account and you will no longer be sent surveys, receive credits or get any rewards that are due.  This may include but is not limited to the following:

  • Responses that do not make sense.
  • Responses that are inconsistent with other information provided.
  • Not answering all the required questions in the survey.
  • Speeding through the survey too quickly and not answering the questions properly.
  • Inappropriate or abusive answers to questions.  This may include anything TRP Research Ltd deems prejudiced towards specific groups of people (including, but not limited to, racism, homophobia, and sexism).
  • Responses that are obscene, indecent, pornographic, seditious, offensive, defamatory, threatening, liable to incite racial hatred, menacing, blasphemous, otherwise in breach of any Applicable Laws, or which breaches any third-party Intellectual Property Rights.
  • Pretending to be another member or filling in a survey addressed to another member.
  • Assisting other members on how to answer their survey.

10. Confidentiality

The surveys that are available to you may disclose confidential, sensitive or trade secret information relating to the client sponsoring the survey (whether that be surveys run by TRP Surveys or third-party surveys). This might include ideas about new television or radio shows and advertising among other things. The content you see in any survey run by TRP Surveys or that is available in the third-party surveys / PureSpectrum’s marketplace remains the absolute property of the client who asked for the survey and must not be shared with any other person. In addition, you must not copy, screenshot, download, print, transfer, share, store, reproduce, republish, or disseminate any materials that are shown to you in any survey you complete through TRP Surveys or any third-party survey / PureSpectrum’s marketplace, including the identities of the companies sponsoring the surveys, the survey questions, images, trademarks, tradenames, slogans, advertising copy, videos or audio files. All information included within the survey must only be used for the sole purpose of completing the survey. If you fail to comply we will end your membership with TRP Surveys without notice and you will lose any credits you have left in your account and you will no longer be sent surveys, receive credits or get any rewards that are due.

For any damages caused by a data breach you commit you may be liable for monetary damages to TRP Surveys, Syno Panel, sample buyers for third-party surveys, PureSpectrum and / or the client.

11. Advertising

You must not make false or misleading statements when advertising or talking about TRP Surveys in person, on social media, in articles or in any other place.  As a member of TRP Surveys you are responsible for making sure that any information you publish about TRP Surveys is accurate and up to date.  If you fail to do this we may end your membership with TRP Surveys without notice and you will lose any credits you have left in your account and you will no longer be sent surveys, receive credits or get any rewards that are due.

12. Links to other websites

Any links to external websites provided by third parties such as the charities we work with are provided for your information only.  We accept no responsibility for these websites and have no control over their content.  These websites will have their own Terms and Conditions / Privacy Notices / Cookie Notices and you use these websites at your own risk.

13. Inactivity

Your account may be set to inactive for any of the following reasons:

  • If we get a bounceback message when we send an email or survey to you. If we are unable to contact you through any other means, e.g. phone call you will be removed from TRP Surveys and will not receive any surveys or emails from us.  Therefore, it is important that you check your details carefully when signing up for TRP Surveys.  Your details will be kept on our records, so we don’t try and contact you again.
  • If you have never completed a survey or have not completed a survey for a while. If you fall into one of these groups you may receive an email, text or phone call asking if you want to remain a member of TRP Surveys.  If you don’t respond to this email/text/phone call or complete a survey you will be unsubscribed from TRP Surveys (see “Leaving TRP Surveys” section below).

If your account is set to inactive you will no longer be sent surveys, receive credits or get any rewards that are due.  If you change your mind and would like to be a part of TRP Surveys again you will need to sign up again.  If you do this we will not be able to transfer any credits from your previous account and your credit balance will start at zero.

14. Break from surveys

You can request to have a break from our surveys at any time, for example if you’re going on holiday. You will not receive surveys (including the third-party surveys) or be able to redeem rewards for the duration of the break. Once the break has ended you will start receiving surveys, credits and be able to redeem rewards once again.

15. Oversubscribed groups

From time to time it may be necessary to rebalance TRP Surveys, for example if we are getting lots of responses from a certain demographic group, to make sure that it continues to represent the population of the UK.

If this happens we may need to close your membership / your community group or change your membership so that you receive fewer surveys.  We will always get in contact with you to let you know in advance and will let you know the reason for the closure / change along with the date this will happen.  If we end your membership with TRP Surveys you will no longer be sent surveys, receive credits or get any rewards that are due.

16. Leaving TRP Surveys

You can leave TRP Surveys at any time by emailing info@trpsurveys.com and putting “TRP Surveys Unsubscribe” in the email heading. Requests to unsubscribe will be completed within 7 days and once actioned you will not be contacted again. If you unsubscribe from TRP Surveys, you will automatically be unsubscribed from the third-party surveys / PureSpectrum surveys at the same time. We will keep a record of your personal information for the purpose of preventing fraud and to make sure that you are not contacted again (e.g. via a friend referral). All data will be protected and stored as per our Privacy Notice.

If you unsubscribe you will lose any credits you have left in your account and you will no longer be sent surveys, receive credits or get any rewards that are due.

17. Removal from TRP Surveys

Your membership with TRP Surveys may be ended without notice if you fail to follow these Terms and Conditions.  If this happens you will lose any credits you have left in your account and you will no longer be sent surveys (including the third-party surveys / PureSpectrum surveys), receive credits or get any rewards that are due.

If you no longer meet the criteria for being a member of TRP Surveys as defined in section 1 “Signing up for TRP Surveys” then you can no longer take part in our research and we will need to remove you from TRP Surveys.
